What does a client-centred approach to law practice actually look like? Two recent blog posts provide some helpful tips on how lawyers can better focus on the needs of their customers (aka clients). Lee Rosen focuses on the front line with his post on more effective client intake processes. In 10 Tips for Intake of Potential Clients, Rosen notes that: Every dollar we earn passes through the intake system. Why wouldn’t I be obsessed? It’s important. In fact, I’d advocate for you to obsess right along with me. It’s a good thing. This process matters. Patrick Lamb writes in A small step that makes clients’ lives easier about how to make simple changes to the subject line of your emails so as to help your client know what kind of response is required if any. Lamb even includes a link to slides you might use to train your colleagues on the suggested protocols. The Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association provides loss prevention information solely for the benefit of CLIA insured lawyers. The content and links provided in Loss Prevention eBytes are intended as resources to qualified lawyers who should exercise due care and their professional judgment in adapting or making use of any content.
