Lawyers have a professional obligation to be truthful and forthright with other lawyers, officers of the court and their clients. But that obligation doesn’t extend to ourselves. In his post, 5 Lies Lawyers Tell, North Carolina lawyer Lee Rosen outlines some of the misstatements lawyers make in their self-talk; for example, telling themselves: “Things are going great” when the opposite is true. As Rosen points out, the danger in the quiet lies we tell ourselves arises when we begin to believe they are true.
