The CLIA Voluntary Excess Program Renewal is now open!
Renewing your excess insurance coverage for the 2026/27 policy year is now easier than ever.
New This Year – Automatic Renewal
We’ve simplified the renewal process.
This year, you will receive a renewal email containing your prior year application information.
If no changes are required, simply click “Pay” in the email to renew your policy.
If updates are needed, log in to your account, make the necessary changes, submit your application, and complete payment.
Renewal Deadline
Renew your policy before June 30, 2026 to ensure uninterrupted coverage for the upcoming policy year.
Do I Need Excess Insurance?
Lawyers in CLIA subscribing jurisdictions already receive:
o Mandatory Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance with limits of $1 million per claim and $2 million annual aggregate; and
o Mandatory Cyber coverage ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 for various common cyber claims.
Flexible excess liability limits are available, with coverage options of up to $34 million per claim and annual aggregate.
Stand-Alone Cyber Insurance Also Available
CLIA also offers stand-alone cyber insurance with higher limits than the cyber coverage included within the mandatory insurance program.
This coverage may be purchased:
together with excess liability insurance; or
as a stand-alone product.
To better understand your mandatory cyber coverage, review our Cyber Insurance Overview information available on the CLIA website. Still have questions? Contact us at service@clia.ca.
Don't Let Your Coverage Lapse
Because CLIA excess liability policies are claims-made, continuous coverage is important.
A lapse in coverage could leave your firm uninsured for claims arising during the gap period and may result in significant financial exposure.
Please note that CLIA does not provide a grace period for late renewals. To ensure uninterrupted protection, renew your policy before June 30, 2026.
New Customers – How Do I Apply?
Applications are accepted until the end of July.
Applications submitted after July will be prorated (please note that cyber coverage cannot be prorated).
