Roundup: Cyber Coverage and Reporting Cyber Claims – CLIA Products

To round out Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’ve compiled a collection of posts related to CLIA’s cyber insurance, as well as how to manage and report a cyber claim to CLIA:

Mandatory Cyber Coverage

CLIA administers a Mandatory Cyber insurance program. This product is purchased by each CLIA Subscribing Law Society and provides coverage for their members who were required to be insured by mandatory lawyers’ professional liability insurance.

Excess/Stand-Alone Cyber Coverage

CLIA also provides an optional, enhanced Stand-alone Cyber insurance product which can augment your protection, and provide your firm with robust coverage for its potential expenses and lost revenues in the event of a breach or attack.

For Alberta lawyers, the Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association (ALIA) administers a Mandatory Cyber insurance program. However, CLIA also provides an optional, enhanced stand-alone cyber insurance product for Alberta lawyers. See our ALIA Cyber Insurance materials for more information.

Reporting a Cyber Claim to CLIA

The Lawyer/law firm should notify the CLIA cyber insurance program via cyberclaims@clia.ca or 1-833-383-1488, communicate that they have a potential event unfolding, and give a brief overview of the situation.
