Wellness Toolkit: Resources for Employers

CLIA recognizes the importance of promoting wellness for the profession. To help, we have compiled a repository of wellness resources based on the findings of the National Study on the Health and Wellness Determinants of Legal Professionals in Canada prepared by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the Université de Sherbrooke.

Our online Wellness Toolkit houses resources to assist you in detecting warning signs in yourself and others, provide more information for those in higher-risk groups, and tools to deal with risks specific to the legal profession.

One category of the Wellness Toolkit is ‘Resources for Employers’. As a partner in your firm or leader in your organization, you may wonder how you can contribute to and promote overall wellbeing in the workplace.

See the Wellness Toolkit for resources to assist with promoting a healthy workplace, including:

  • Canadian Mental Health Association: Workplace Mental Health – a series of resources related to mental health in the workplace, including psychological health and safety training.

  • Determined Managing Partner – a managing partner asks: What is the best way to get a pulse on how our lawyers are doing in terms of their wellbeing? Am I really receiving honest feedback about the workplace culture or could our lawyers just telling us what we want to hear in fear of retribution?

  • Canadian Bar Association: The Well-Being Hour - The Well-Being Hour is a series of on-demand video conversations that focus on the current challenges and overall well-being of lawyers and legal professionals. Note that a CBA membership may be required to view videos. Videos specific to workplace mental health include:
